Aloud

Help center

Quick answers.

Most things are a one-minute fix.

Allow the microphone

When your browser asks, choose Allow. If you blocked it, click the lock icon in the address bar, set Microphone to Allow, and reload.

Pick the right microphone

Open your device sound settings and choose the microphone you want as the default. A headset or a quiet room gives the best results.

Teach it a word

In your dashboard, open Dictionary and add the name or term it keeps getting wrong.

Out of words?

The free plan refills every Monday. Need more now? Ask for Pro on the contact page.

Questions, answered.

How is this different from the dictation built into my device?+

Built-in dictation types exactly what you said, ums included. Aloud understands what you meant: it removes fillers, fixes punctuation, follows your corrections and keeps your own words spelled right.

Where can I use it?+

Today Aloud runs in your browser, so you can dictate, copy the result and paste it anywhere. Desktop and phone apps that type straight into any app are next, and Pro members get them first.

Which languages does it understand?+

Many. It detects the language automatically and handles mixing, such as Hindi and English together.

Do you keep my recordings?+

No. Audio is converted to text and discarded. We store only how many words you used, plus the dictionary and snippets you create.

Is it really free?+

Yes. You get 2,000 words every week on the free plan, with no card. Pro removes the weekly limit.

How do I pay for Pro?+

Billing is not switched on yet. While we are small, we activate Pro for you by hand. Create an account, tell us you want Pro, and we will turn it on.

What about noisy rooms or accents?+

It copes well with everyday noise and a wide range of accents. A decent microphone helps, and the dictionary fixes names it keeps missing.
